Welcome back roots, reggae and dub lovers in particular: WeltBeat host and selector Jean Trouillet was unable to attend this broadcast for personal reasons, but that couldn't stop this latest special from being recorded, aired and recently uploaded to our Greedio channel on Mixcloud. Gathering in the studio this time around were German author, journalist, sound engineer, producer and keynote speaker Helmut Philipps, first techno and house then reggae and bass music DJ Miriam Schulte as well as Karl-Olaf Kaiser of radio X Sunday Dancehall and the German Jamaican Society fame.
This "Globalwize Radioshow #462" special 'dub conference' was held on the occasion of the publication of the English edition of Philipps' book "Dub – The Sound of Surprise" (you can find the original interview with Helmut Philipps from 2022 here). The show features two hours of finest tunes and choice gems, flanked by the studio guests dropping knowledge (in German). Gain insights into the history and meaning of the dub, dubplate and soundsystem culture and hear delightful versions that you may or may not be familiar with. Later in the show, Miriam Schulte shares her own thoughts on the style, its origins as well as the dubstep genre and also drops a selection of her own.
You can stream the full show and find more quality audio content in our Greedio channel on Mixcloud. Big up!
